I feel like my life is filled with some pretty wild stories.

中でも、今でも忘れられないのが――

One that I’ll never forget is…

“車でスピン”したあの朝の出来事です。

The morning I experienced a real-life car spin.

映画『ワイルド・スピード』みたいに、車がクルクル回るアレ。

Like the kind you see in Fast & Furious, when the car just spins out of control.

まさか自分がそんなことを体験するなんて、思ってもいませんでした。

Never did I think I’d experience that myself.

しかもそのとき、私はまだ中学生でした。

And back then—I was just a junior high school student.

教師をしていた叔母が、前日にこう言ってきました。

The day before, my aunt, who was a school teacher, asked me:

「明日、初めて担任で学芸会なの。1人じゃ不安だから手伝ってくれない？」

“Tomorrow’s the school performance—my first time as a homeroom teacher. I’m nervous to do it alone. Will you come help me?”

私は「うん、いいよ」と即答。

Of course, I said, “Sure!”

今になって思えば…

Looking back now…

20代後半の大人が中学生に頼るって、どうなんだ（笑）

Was it really okay for an adult in her late twenties to rely on a teenager like that? (lol)

翌朝、私たちは早朝に那覇を出発。

The next morning, we left Naha early.

ぼーっとしたまま助手席に乗っていた私は、ふと気づきます。

Still half-asleep in the passenger seat, I suddenly noticed—

「あれ？会場の沖縄市民会館、通り過ぎてない？」

“Wait… didn’t we just pass the Okinawa Civic Hall?”

そのとき、叔母がつぶやきました。

At that moment, my aunt muttered:

「あっ、赤信号だ。」

“Oh! A red light.”

当然ブレーキを踏むと思ったら――

I thought she’d hit the brakes, but instead—

まさかの サイドブレーキ！！

She yanked the handbrake.

車はクルクルとスピンし始め、私は絶叫。

The car started spinning wildly, and I screamed.

「なにこれ！？死ぬの！？怖い！！」

“What’s happening!? Are we gonna die!? This is terrifying!!”

「わーーーーーーーーー！！」

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!!”

奇跡的に、車は停止線ぴったりで止まりました。

Miraculously, the car stopped exactly at the stop line.

叔母は平然と、

And with complete calm, my aunt said:

「は〜、怖かった。…あ、青だね。」

“Whew, that was scary. Oh look, green light.”

そして何事もなかったかのように発進。

Then she just drove off like nothing had happened.

その日は無事に学校に着きましたが、

We made it to school safely that day…

私はスピンの衝撃が強すぎて、何を手伝ったか一切覚えていません。

But I was so shaken, I don’t remember a single thing I helped with.

夕方には母と妹が迎えに来てくれて、帰りは別の車で帰宅。

Thankfully, my mom and sister picked me up that evening, so I didn’t have to ride back with my aunt.

母に話そうとした瞬間、叔母が私に鋭い視線を。

When I tried to tell my mom what happened, my aunt gave me that look.

「…言うなよ？」という目でした（笑）

Her eyes clearly said, “Don’t. Say. A word.” (lol)

でも実は…その前にも似たことがあったんです。

But the truth is… that wasn’t my first scary ride with her.

叔母が免許を取りたての頃、車に乗せてもらったことがあって――

When she had just gotten her license, I once rode with her.

道に野良犬が飛び出してきた瞬間、叔母がこう叫びました。

A stray dog ran out into the street and she shouted:

「危ない！かわいそう！」

“Oh no! Poor thing!”

そして、なんと 目を閉じたんです。

And then—she closed her eyes while driving.

「ちょっと！目を閉じないで！前見て前！！」

“Don’t close your eyes! Look ahead!!”

と必死に叫んだ私。

I was screaming from the passenger seat in total panic.

そんな過去があったのをすっかり忘れて、

I had completely forgotten that incident…

また乗ってしまった今回。

And got in the car with her again.

でも――

But after this one…

私は心に誓いました。

I swore to myself that day:

もう二度と、叔母の車には乗らない。

Never again will I ride in my aunt’s car.

ちなみに、私はいまだに運転免許を持っていません。

By the way—I still don’t have a driver’s license.
